Misbrug

Hvornår er et forbrug af alkohol, medicin eller stoffer et problem? Det er svært at sige helt klart, for vi opfatter det forskelligt, og der er derfor forskellige definitioner af, hvad misbrug er. Men hvis dit forbrug af et eller flere rusmidler giver problemer med dit helbred eller i hverdagslivet, har du et misbrug.

Påvirker dig selv – og andre

Et misbrug kan være en måde at dulme angst, depression eller anden psykisk sygdom på, men det kan også udløse psykisk sygdom. Og et misbrug påvirker ikke kun dig selv, men også dine omgivelser, f.eks. familie, venner og kolleger. Der er således flere gode og vigtige grunde til at gå i behandling.

Motivation er nøglen

Du skal være motiveret for at gøre en ende på misbruget, og det er en kæmpe hjælp, hvis du kan regne med støtte fra dine omgivelser. Et behandlingsforløb foregår ofte som ambulant medicinsk behandling gennem egen læge, så din trang bliver dæmpet, og du ikke oplever abstinenser.

Reduceret forbrug eller fuldstændigt stop

Den medicinske behandling kombineres ofte med samtaleterapi, og her kan jeg som psykoterapeut støtte dig. Sammen finder vi ud af, hvad der ligger bag dit misbrug, og hvad du følelsesmæssigt opnår via misbruget, og vi afdækker, hvad der motiverer dig til at gøre noget ved problemet og komme videre i livet med et reduceret forbrug – eller et fuldstændigt stop.
